I went to Europe for 4 months in 2018 as part of my year off. While I was
there I shot a bunch of pictures and videos, the latter of which I’m
finally going through. This is a quick summary of the whole trip while I’m
working on the rest of the videos.
I made a quick stop in Manarola in the Cinque Terre (in addition to visiting
Riomaggiore.) I didn’t have much time there because a giant storm
was arriving in the evening. Everything was closing and I needed to take a
train back to where I was staying. It was still a nice place to visit for a few
hours.
I’ll return to my regularly scheduled travel photos next week, but today I want
to share some pictures of this past month. I’ve been spending time with family
and friends while enjoying the sunny South Florida winter.
While I was staying in Le Grazie I took a train over to Cinque Terre. It
was two days before a large storm moved in, so the sea was rough and the sky
was cloudy. Riomaggiore was beautiful nonetheless. Being so close to raw nature
always makes me appreciate life.
After visting Rome I rode the train North to the La Spezia region. I
stayed there for one week in the small town of Le Grazie. My Airbnb
hosts were wonderful (buongiorno Angela y Raimondo!), and I got to
experience what I would consider a Mediterranean hurricane. It was an eventful
week that started with a visit to the town of Portovenere.
After spending two weeks in Greece I flew to Rome, Italy. While I was
there I visited the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, the Piazza Venezia, the
Colosseum, and the Vatican.
After spending time in Sami I drove across the island to Argostolion,
where I would spend the week for my 30th birthday. I hiked to the top of Mount
Ainos, the tallest peak on the island, then spent my birthday on Petani Beach.
After leaving Corinth I took a bus to Patras. There, I boarded a ferry headed
to the island of Kefalonia. During my first few days on the island I visited
the Melissani Cave, Antisamos Beach, and Myrtos Beach.
I took a train from Athens to Corinth. While there I visited the Corinth
Canal, Ancient Corinth, and the Acrocorinth.
After the cold and wind and rain in the UK and Ireland I flew to Greece to warm
up and see the Sun. My first stop was Athens.
