After leaving Corinth I took a bus to Patras. There, I boarded a ferry headed
to the island of Kefalonia. During my first few days on the island I visited
the Melissani Cave, Antisamos Beach, and Myrtos Beach.
I left Corinth, took a bus to Patras, and got on this ferry to get to the
island of Kefalonia.
Taken from the ferry on the way to the island.
You can’t swim in the cave, but tours are given throughout the day on boats.
Many years ago (thousands) the ceiling of this cave fell in, revealing itself.
In the mid 20th century it was rediscovered and an entrance tunnel was dug for
access.
The only real plan I had for my year off trip was to spend my birthday
week on a Greek island. Mission accomplished.
Taken from the cave on the South end of the beach looking North.
One reason the water is so clear is that the beaches are stone beaches instead
of sand.
There are at least 4.
