The Summer of 2019 was one for the books. It was the end of my year off
and I spent it exactly how I wanted to: with my friends and family. I did a lot
of reflecting on what I learned over what ended up being 15 months of not
working. I made the decision to go back to work at The New York Times. And I set
the aim for the next few years of my life - my Early 30s.
It was the perfect ending to a very meaningful chapter in my life.
I went to the beach one evening (my favorite time to be there) and luckily had
my camera with me because the moonrise was beautiful.
There’s a whole video of him dancing with that paddle. It’ll get posted.
Every summer my best friends and I meet at the lake and spend a week together.
Fun fact: there are 10 people in this picture.
Denali LOVES riding on my paddleboard with me. He would jump on it before I
could even put it in the water, and would not let me go alone.
My mom had the idea of making a headboard and having my sister’s kids paint it.
We picked up the materials from a hardware store and put it all together. It was
a fun DIY project. Even the dog helped.
I took this with my drone from about 100 feet up.
Twice a week these jets fly over the lake in a practice routine. They are
usually no more than 200 feet above ground level.
I went back to work at The New York Times and as a new employee (again) I got
all of this fun stuff.
After I arrived back in NYC to begin working again, Sara stopped by to visit
while on a work trip.
