The first stop on my year off travels was Iceland! These pictures are from the
first two days.
On day one we drove from Reykjavík to Thingvellir National Park, then to
Geysir and finally Hella for the night. Day two was particularly busy with stops
at Seljalandsfoss, Seljavallalaug Swimming Pool, Skógafoss, Sólheimajökull
Glacier, Kirkjufjara beach, and Reynisfjara Beach aka Black Sand Beach.
I also put together some videos of this part of the trip: Day One and
Waterfalls and Beaches and Glaciers.

This was my first picture taken in Iceland! At Thingvellir National Park.
The nature in Iceland is endless and refreshing.

On our first night we stayed in an AirBnB just outside of Hella. This was the
view from outside the house. The hay bales were a common sight throughout our
trip.
If you go here prepare to get soaked.
We hiked up to this swimming pool that is fed partly by a hot spring.
It’s open to the public and wasn’t very crowded when we got there, but it’s only
cleaned once a summer and was fairly covered in algae.
Our second waterfall of day two was Skogafoss.
Our first glacier of the trip, Solheimajokull.

A glacier and volcanic black sand in one place. Nature is wild.
Drones are not allowed at many popular locations around Iceland. It makes sense
because these places are full of people and certain locations are incredibly
windy which makes flying in general not a good idea.
The side of this cliff was the only location where we saw puffins.
“Sneaker Waves”
I think this rock formation looks like a nose.
